An Giang Agriculture and Foods Import – Export Company, (formerly known as An Giang Agriculture and Fishery Import – Export Company) was founded under  the Decision No.: 71/QD-UB-TC dated February 10, 1990 of the People Committee of An Giang Province by merging three units : Animal husbandry company; Fishery import –export company; and Fishery exploiting and processing enterprise.
In 1992, based on regulations on foundation and dissolution of state-run enterprises promulgated together with the Council of Ministers’ Decree No.: 156/HDBT dated 07 May 1992, People Committee of An Giang Province issued the Decision No.: 528/QD.UB dated 02 November 1992 to re-establish the company and merge a part of Forestry Company into An Giang Agriculture and Fishery Import – Export Company concurrently.
During its operation, the company has been continuously developing and growing, always gained high efficiency from production and trade, and became one of the top companies in An Giang province.
In 1995, for furthering development and creating favourable conditions suitably for real circumstance as well as strengthening the ability of operational management on specializing functions, The people committee of An Giang Province divided the company into 02 independent ones which were An Giang Fisheries Import Export Company (presently known as An Giang Fisheries Import Export Joint Stock Company - AGIFISH) and An Giang Agriculture and Foods Import–Export Company (An Giang AFIEX).  An Giang Agriculture and Foods Import–Export Company was renamed and established under the Decision No.: 69/QĐ.UB dated January 29, 1996 issued by the People Committee of An Giang Province 
During past stages, with proud of being a state-owned company to have achieved high-growing efficiency, the company always proves its crucial roles in implementation of the Province’s guidelines and policies. For the developing trend, the project equitizing the company was approved by the People Committee of An Giang Province under The decision No.: 1808/QĐ-UBND dated September 22, 2010. 
Shareholders’ general meeting on the establishment of An Giang Agriculture and Foods Import-Export Joint Stock Company (AFIEX) was held on March 15, 2011  and AFIEX has officially operated in accordance with a joint stock company model with charter capital 350 billion VND from  April 01, 2011.
